Couples therapy

Being a part of a couple is extremely rewarding but can be challenging at times as well.  Most relationships will get strained at some point which may cause arguments, disagreements, and tension.  Each person in a relationship is unique and has their own personality.  At times, different personalities clash and couples need some extra assistance learning how to better communicate with one another.  Life changes, like financial state, physical health, and the influence of other family members can have a large impact on the behavior, responses, and actions of the individuals in a relationship.

My role is to help couples recognize and resolve conflicts to improve their relationship.  Couples begin to understand one another once they are able to recognize the patterns that have been playing out in their relationship.  We will focus on communication skills, compromise, attachment issues, and much more.

Couple sessions are 80 minutes long, and the number of sessions required varies, depending on the severity of the problems and the willingness of participation.  Here are some issues that may be addressed in couples counseling:

  • Communication problems

  • Sexual difficulties/expectations

  • Conflicts about child rearing or blended families

  • Substance abuse

  • Financial problems

  • Anger

  • Infidelity

  • Career and time management

  • Household duties

  • Extended family

  • Bad habits

  • Religion/Spirituality

  • Jealousy
